Engadget Editorial: Despite shaky 48 fps Hobbit preview, high frame rates will take off

Okay, I saw this right after having a conversation about the same subject with a very smart, video-savvy friend. Really curious to know what other filmmakers (of all genres and styles) think about this. Give me your 2 cents, please.

These are high-speed photos of paint splashed just the right way to simulate flowers!

Photographer Jack Long diligently plans out each photo, shooting hundreds of tests. None are Photoshopped other than to “clean up” the photo.

I might be the only person who finds this a bit… odd. And by odd, I mean unnecessary. Because, really, you might as well just buy the gum. Although I gotta admit, when I was a kid, I probably would’ve been picky enough to eat this instead of a real apple.
